What we do
Most software problems that look like coding problems are really structural ones. A system becomes slow, fragile or impossible to change because of decisions made long before the code was written — how responsibilities were divided, where state lives, what the boundaries are. We work at that level.
The work spans consulting engagements, where we come in to analyse, design or unblock an existing system, and our own product development, where we take the same approach and apply it to software we ship ourselves.
Software architecture
Structure for systems that need to survive years of change: boundaries, data flow, failure behaviour, and the trade-offs behind each choice made explicit.
Artificial intelligence & machine learning
Getting models out of notebooks and into production, where latency, correctness, cost and observability decide whether the thing is actually useful.
Advanced software systems
Systems with real constraints — concurrency, large data volumes, hardware in the loop, or behaviour that has to be explainable after the fact.
How we work
Evidence before opinion. Architectural advice is cheap and easy to produce, which is precisely why so much of it is wrong. We measure before we recommend, and we say plainly when something is unknown rather than filling the gap with a plausible story.
Small, verifiable steps. Large rewrites are the most reliable way to destroy a working system. We prefer changes that can be shipped, observed and reversed.
The reasoning is part of the deliverable. A decision you cannot revisit is a decision you will eventually be trapped by, so the trade-offs behind a design are written down alongside it.
